New Rules on Landfilling Waste

Landfill SiteFrom 30th October 2007, waste must be treated before it is disposed of at non-hazardous and inert landfills. This requirement already applies to hazardous waste.

Landfill sites cannot accept untreated waste. Waste producers therefore have a choice. They can treat waste themselves or ensure that it is treated elsewhere before being landfilled.

In layman's terms, you either pre treat your own waste prior to it being sent to landfill, or PAY someone to do it for you, i.e. the waste contractor. This new legislation has major cost implications if not carried out properly! Read more about the new Landfill Directive

Seven Ways Donate to Local Hospital's Cancer Unit

Seven Ways recently donated a £300 cheque and two waste bins to Glan Clwyd Hospital's Cancer Unit. Seven Ways director Steve Wilson commented "We originally won a £150 prize during a quiz at a social event organised by our wheelie bin supplier Plastic Omnium. When we decided to donate the prize to charity Plastic Omnium kindly doubled the amount to £300 and added two waste bins, we decided to donate the prize to Glan Clwyd Hospital who are our customer and a very worthy cause".

Seven Ways Helps Shopping Centre "Go Green" and Save Money

Seven Ways director, Steve Wilson, was paramount in helping Northfield Shopping Centre achieve massive savings on waste disposal by introducing an in-house waste disposal and recycling scheme. Working closely with centre manager, Tony Wilkes and his team, Steve recommended the installation of two balers for recycling cardboard and plastics.

Following Steve's recommendations, Northfield Shopping Centre are showing considerable cost savings by diverting waste from being land-filled.
